Fighting out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Misha Cirkunov is an ultra talented light heavyweight prospect who enters the sport with solid grappling credentials and the backing of Xtreme Couture Toronto. Born in Latvia, Cirkunov immigrated to Canada as a 13 year old, where he immediately began receiving attention for his immense grappling potential. Originally coming from a judo background, Cirkunov had already earned his black belt and begun tearing through the Ontario high school wrestling scene by the age of sixteen, and at the same time was the number one ranked Canadian judoka at his weight class (all as a teenager mind you.) Catching the eye of respected BJJ trainer Sam Zakula, Cirkunov began training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and his grappling game has continued to evolve into a very exciting blend of his judo, wrestling and BJJ backgrounds.
Cirkunov is a former Canadian Junior National Judo Champion, two-time Canadian Junior National Freestyle Wrestling Champion, Canadian Junior National Greco-Roman Wrestling Champion, Pan-American Games Gold Medalist (no-gi black belt super heavyweight division), Canadian Grapplers Quest Champion and North American ADCC Trials Champion who also competed in the finals of the 2007 ADCC as a twenty year old. Cirkunov made his professional MMA debut at the age of 23 where he defeated his opponent in 40 seconds. He is currently a full time professional mixed martial artist who is looking to constantly improve and to one day become a world champion.
